Thirteen-year-old Rita runs away from a neglectful home and is placed in an oppressive state orphanage. Rita’s arrival brings a ray of hope to the girls living there, who share a prophecy that an angel will appear to free them. Encouraging one another, the girls plan an escape to reclaim their freedom and expose the orphanage.
