Filmed in Charleston, South Carolina; it was originally to be filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina. I love this show but sometimes it can be very frustrating to watch.
He doesn’t even remotely look like a 16 year old
The acting is decent, but as many have already pointed out, the casting is a bit ridiculous. The main character, who plays a 16-year-old girl, is almost 30 years old. The actors playing the teenagers are already too old for the roles they’ve been given, and that kind of ruins the immersion for me. Is it really that hard to find decent actors who at least look the age of the role they are playing?
But that’s hardly the main problem
The story is good on a high level, but the details make this show fall apart. All the drama and tension is the characters doing stupid things. The stupidity ranges from mild to incredibly dense, but it always drives the drama. It’s hard to find likable characters when they keep doing stupid things and never learn or grow.
And it’s not just teenagers who are stupid
None of the cops follow procedure, because if they did, the story wouldn’t happen. Every time a character does something smart, it has to be ruined by someone doing something incredibly stupid, because then again the story won’t happen. I wish the writers would spend a little more time coming up with different ways to move the story forward, perhaps making the antagonists clever instead of the heroes being stupid. I just finished season 2 and don’t regret watching it.
